Hotfix Adds Support for Trusted Platform Module TPM 20 in Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2

New Driver Resolves ACPI Issues in Windows 7

Intel has released a new hotfix that adds support for Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 in Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. This hotfix is necessary to resolve ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) issues that can occur when using Windows 7 on Kabylake platform products.

According to Intel, only Skylake processors can support Windows 7. Therefore, if you are using a Kabylake processor, you must switch to Windows 7 64-bit in order to install this hotfix. There is no 32-bit driver available for Windows 7 on Kabylake processors.

To install the hotfix, simply run the Microsoft ACPIMSFT0101 hotfix for Windows 7 64-bit. Once the hotfix is installed, you should also install the latest AMD HDMI audio driver.

If you are experiencing ACPI issues in Windows 7 on a Kabylake platform product, this hotfix is essential. Be sure to install it as soon as possible to resolve the issue.

Details on the Device

The device that corresponds to the TPM module will show as ACPIMSFT0101 in the Windows 7 Device Manager. This device does not have a driver, so the hotfix will add the necessary support.
