Australia will soon be home to its biggest cruise ship yet, with the arrival of the Discovery Princess in October.

The 145,000-tonne ship will be the largest ever to homeport in Australia, and will carry 3,660 guests and 1,366 crew.

The Discovery Princess will sail from Sydney on a series of cruises to New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, and will also make calls to Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

The ship's arrival is a major coup for the Australian cruise industry, and is expected to boost tourism numbers by 10,000 visitors in the past month.
