Ex-Steelers Second-Round Pick Could Be Option For Eagles With AJ Brown Injured

Former Steelers wide receiver and second-round pick Chase Claypool is a free agent after being traded by the team this offseason. He could be an option for the Philadelphia Eagles, who are dealing with an injury to star wide receiver A.J.

AJ Brown, who signed a four-year, $100 million contract with the Eagles this offseason, suffered a bone bruise in his knee during the team's Week 1 loss to the Detroit Lions. He is expected to miss multiple weeks, leaving the Eagles thin at the wide receiver position.

Claypool, who was traded to the Chicago Bears for a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, had a breakout season in 2020 with the Steelers, catching 62 passes for 873 yards and nine touchdowns. He regressed in 2021, however, catching just 59 passes for 860 yards and two touchdowns.

Despite his struggles last season, Claypool is still a talented receiver with the potential to be a productive player in the NFL. He is a big target at 6'4", 238 pounds, and he has good speed and athleticism. He is also a willing blocker, which would be a valuable asset to the Eagles' running game.

The Eagles are reportedly interested in signing Claypool, and they have the cap space to do so. Claypool would give the Eagles a much-needed boost to their passing game, and he could help the team make a run at the Super Bowl this season.

It remains to be seen if Claypool will sign with the Eagles, but he would be a good fit for the team and could help them fill the void left by Brown's injury.
